This paper presents a modified three phase multilevel inverter with reduced number of dc sources and switches. The main objectives are to design and implement a multilevel inverter with reduced component count and to achieve reduced switching loss, size, cost and improved efficiency. Multilevel inverter is the core of this system. Multilevel inverters are used in the power system compensators and power quality conditioners to reduce the converter harmonics. But existing multilevel converters are having higher component count, high cost and high switching loss. The paper a modified multilevel inverter which will reduce the component count, thus increasing the efficiency, reducing the switching loss, size and cost. Matlab simulation based result proves the validity of the proposed system.en_US
