Authors: BEN AUSTIN B ALAPATT
Abstract: Aluminium welding is done by Tungsten Inert Gas(TIG) welding, which is very costly. Friction stir welding is an economically better alternative for this. We have successfully done friction stir welding using the drilling machine on aluminium alloy. We have performed welding on 15 specimens and the tool never failed. We got satisfactory results in tensile tests, hardness tests, ultrasonic tests and liquid penetrant test. It was found that weld quality increased with increasing RPM and decreasing tool travel speed. We got better weld quality at 800 RPM and 50 mm/min travel speed. The tool travel speed can be further increased by increasing the RPM.

Authors: BEN AUSTIN B ALAPATT
Abstract: Coconut nicknamed "Tree of Life" because it is a multi-purpose agricultural commodities in which all parts of the coconut plants are beneficial to humans. One of the results of the coconut is coconut oil. To get the oil required several processes such as coconut testa peeling the skin. Coconut testa skin peeling process is still done manually using a special knife that takes time and considerable manpower. In addition, there is a risk of a knife scraped manually peeling process. It required skinner testa machine to increase production capacity and avoid the risks that occur when using the manual method. The shell breaking process has some risk involved,so on heating the shell before deshelling the process would be much easier one.Skinner testa machine design results can peel testa with peeling efficiency of 90% with the time it takes for 15 minutes to peel as many as 15 coconuts. Costs for skin peeling coconut testa cheaper than the manual for a one coconut. The the testa skin is the skin found on outside of the coconut flesh which is not useful if the fruit flesh wants to be processed. The process of seperation of skin from the flesh is done manually. The process of skin peeling done manually using a knife and blade.Testa skin peeling would require a long time and lot of labours. So we need a machine to peel the peeling process involves peel the skin using a rotating drum. The principle of peeling used is the friction between the coconut with the drum and the friction between the coconut.

Authors: BEN AUSTIN B ALAPATT
Abstract: The present study was conducted to find a method to separate the seed and peel of camelia ollifera fruit. some domestic scholars have studied a separating device for seed and peel of camellia oleifera fruit with the rapid development of camellia oleifera industry. The purpose of the experiment is to find out optimum mechanical and electrical system for separating seed and peel of the fruit. Although the separating machine for seed and peel of camellia oleifera fruit has achieved certain development, there are generally problems such as low rate of separating and complex structure. Moreover, in many industries even now, the peppers are separated manually. Due to this manual process in industries, there is wastage of money and time. In order to avoid this wastage, we have designed the following model called pepper thresher machine. Therefore, a new type of separator is designed according to the different characteristics of seed and peel, and the single factor experiment and orthogonal experiment were carried out. In this project we fabricate a machine for the purpose of threshing the peppers. This is an advanced and easy process to separate pepper from the plant. In this process we do not need any high electrical supply to operate the machine. This model has the parts, rotating drum, a hopper and cam operated tray arrangement.

Authors: OS, Sandeep; Gopinath, Ajith; Babu, Shibin; Claudius, Allen Bob; Ismail, Shaik Mohammed
Abstract: t. One of the main hurdles for the blind are to read, easily and there by learn and
graduate. Various researches are happening to reduce the effort required for the blind to
read in terms of aids which can speak out the written data. The current research targets to
design and fabricate a reading aid for the visually impaired. This device will help them to
identify the text written in any book or page by scanning the text and speaking it out to
them with the help of a mobile application called KNFB reader which helps to read
anything to blind or dyslexic people. This project utilizes the fact that majority of the
people use smartphones, which can be used for the advantage of the blind people. Based
on a survey conducted among the blind people with the help of an NGO Anuprayas all the
criteria for the design of reading aid, in the current project were selected. Four sample
designs were prepared after taking the criteria for reading aid into consideration. Forced
Decision matrix (FD) analysis and Decision alternative ratio System (DARE) analysis,
which are tools to rank the properties based on the priority, were conducted to identify the
most influential parameter for the design. The parameters were ranked based on these
analyses. The ergonomics, cost and durability were the most important properties desired
in the product. This product can be deployed for the effective utilization by public at
railway stations, bus stations, libraries etc. This will enable the blind to be selfindependent and have the information available for them whenever they need it.
